BCHF-UK were appointed in 2009 to advise on providing a solution to remedy the relatively regular surface water flooding of the car park at Oldings Corner Retail Park.
Although upgrading schemes had been undertaken previously, flooding was still a regular occurrence and in the storms of 2007, approximately 40,000 gallons of water had to be pumped from the car park.
BCHF-UK investigated the existing soakaway system and upgrades and determined that the existing system was ineffective.
There were no surface water sewers in the area so BCHF-UK designed a new soakaway system with associated petrol interceptors to provide drainage adequate to meet current requirements and with an allowance for increased rainfall due to climate change.
